Travel has been a passion as long as I can remember. I have interesting tastes in travel – I love the outdoors and adventure travel, but love to end a rugged dirty trip at a nice hotel, preferably with a spa and some room service! For this reason, a lot of my travel is solo. I have friends who love luxury hotels and friends who love camping, but rarely both! Backpackers are notoriously frugal – after a week trip on Isle Royale, over half the group opted not to spend $6 for a shower, so a 5-star hotel and spa day is definitely out of the question with that crowd!
Much of my travel has been focused on the United States and the National Park System, but I am planning more international excursions beginning in 2014. Did I mention a slight fear of flying? Yep. I don’t let it stop me from traveling, but you might find me zonked out on Xanax!
When I’m not traveling (which is 48 weeks a year), I am a Marketing Manager for a Technology company based in Chicago. When I’m not traveling or working, I am exploring my hometown, usually on long walks with my Airedale Terrier, Bailey.
I started this blog mostly to keep track of my own trips, share with friends and family and hopefully save other travelers some time on research! I would love any feedback or suggestions you might have. Thanks for reading and happy travels!
