Bucket List

I’ve always been a “list” person – I keep lists of everything, mostly due to the fact that I have a terrible memory! These days, lists are usually electronic, in the form of spreadsheets, since I do sit at a computer ALL DAY LONG. So, this would be my version of the Bucket List (great movie, btw)

This is by no means a complete list, but represents the major places I want to go.  I have sketched out dozens of other trips that I want to take, that will evolve over time as I plan them out. Unfortunately, the more travel blogs I follow, the more places I want to explore!

  • US: Visit all of the National Parks
  • US: Go to New Orlean’s Jazz Fest
  • US: Go to SXSW in Austin
  • US: Complete the Maroon Bells 4 pass loop
  • US: Hike the Wonderland Trail at Mt Rainier
  • US: Tahoe Rim Trail
  • US: Spend Christmas in Yellowstone
  • US: View the grizzlies up close at McNeil River Falls, Alaska
  • Mexico: Find and visit my grandmother’s hometown (Tlacuitapa)
  • Mexico: Copper Canyon
  • South America: Machu Picchu
  • South America: Visit Easter Island
  • Europe: Do the Haute Route or Tour du Mont Blanc in the Alps (2017!)
  • Canada: See polar bears in Canada
  • Canada: Hike the West Coast Trail in British Columbia
  • Africa: Climb Kilimanjaro
  • Asia: Visit Nepal and Tibet and see Mt Everest from Base Camp

Accomplished since I started the list:

  1. A few suggestions that you shouldn’t miss in your lifetime.
    1. Galapagos Islands – an archipelago worth visiting. Other worldly. Go by way of Lindblad Expeditions. [Search Lindblad Galapagos to see trip diaries.] Snorkel, kayak and swim with the sea lions. Words can’t explain the experience.
    2. Argentina & Chile – sail by Cape Horn the southern tip of South America and major passage for clipper ships in the olden days.
    3. Belize – kayak & snorkel the most amazing barrier reefs. Again go by way of Lindblad and you will see and experience it all – land and water.

    • Thanks, Judy! Actually, I did just go to the Galapagos last Christmas, and hope to return to South America again someday! Sounds like you are a big fan of Lindblad, I’ll have to check them out!
