Travel writer, guidebook author, and resort concierge.
Travel has been a passion for as long as I can remember. I have unique tastes in travel – I love the outdoors and adventure travel, but love to end a rugged dirty trip at a nice hotel, preferably with a spa and some room service! For this reason, a lot of my travel is solo. I have friends who love luxury hotels and friends who love camping, but rarely both! Backpackers are notoriously frugal – after a week trip on Isle Royale, over half the group opted not to spend $6 for a shower, so a 5-star hotel and spa day is definitely out of the question with that crowd! I also love exploring dog-friendly destinations with my rescued Airedale Terrier, Bailey.
My travels have taken me to 49 states (someday, Rhode Island!), over 30 U.S. National Parks, and 18 countries.
After nearly 12 years in Chicago, Bailey and I set out on a 10,000-mile, 4-month road trip through the Western United States before eventually settling in Tucson, Arizona for two years. In 2020, we moved again to Park City, Utah to escape the heat of Southern Arizona!
I was interviewed by the Chicago Tribune about what I jokingly call my mid-life crisis trip.

I’ve always said we should retire young while healthy and able to enjoy and work when we are old. Not great for production goals but it would be great for our atitudes! I will look forward to all your updates and many of us will be living vicariously through you! ♥♥ Safe travels!
How exciting.
Hi. Checking in on your progress. Great to see your site. Safe travels! Rhonda
Hi Rhonda – thanks for stopping by! I hope all is well!
Good morning camper!
I just wanted to wish you HAPPY BIRTHDAY from afar. I’m really glad I got to see you and your mom during your brief pit stop “home”.
I love that you’re living your dream, my old friend. I wish you safe travels and the best in life always.
Thanks! It was so good to run into you as well – hope to see you again before another 20 years passes 🙂
Wishing you a very happy birthday – hope that your birthday means that you can celebrate in a 5 star hotel and spa! xx
