Ten Best Mexican Restaurants in Park City

Utah Day Trips by Theme Guidebook by Leigh Wilson

When I moved to Park City from Tucson, I knew I was going to miss all the authentic Mexican food that Tucson is known for. Even the Mexican fast food in Tucson is superior…Feliz Pollo, I’m looking at you! Tucson people – you are truly spoiled, don’t ever take it for granted! I have three go-to dishes when eating Mexican food: carne asada street tacos, fish tacos, or sopes with carne asada.

Apparently, loving tacos is the hallmark of being basic, but I can’t help it! I was raised on tortillas and Christmas tamales. My adopted hometown of Chicago is where Rick Bayless runs several Mexican restaurants. Even my hometown, the Quad Cities, has a plethora of Mexican restaurants. But if you’re looking for Mexican food in the Park City area, you have to dig a little bit to find the good stuff. In fact, I’m still waiting to crown the best Mexican restaurant Park City has to offer, but if you’re jonesing for tacos, check out these Park City spots.

  • Alberto’s
  • Baja Cantina
  • Billy Blanco’s
  • Don Gallo
  • Dos Olas
  • El Chubasco
  • Sergio’s

Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant

Alberto’s Mexican Restaurant has one location in Park City and one in Salt Lake City. The Park City drive-through window is always busy! They close at 8 pm (3 on Saturday and closed on Sunday) so it’s rare that I’m able to catch them. Luckily, they serve an amazing breakfast burrito that is relatively cheap for Park City, and easily lasts me two meals in a row!

Baja Cantina

Baja Cantina has been serving up Mexican food at the base of Park City Mountain Resort since 1983, so they must be doing something right! They have classic cantina vibes, a huge selection of tequila, and a loyal fan base of skiers. Great apres spot, but if you want to avoid crowds, do not go during ski season or try to beat the Apres crowd that starts to build around 3:00.

Billy Blanco’s

Billy Blanco’s is part of Bill White Enterprises (get it, Billy Blanco / Bill White?) which also owns Chimayo, Pine Cone Ridge, Grappa, and other popular Park City restaurants. The decor is car-themed and I would say the food is more of the Tex-Mex variety. It’s pretty good if you’re craving American-style Mexican food.

Don Gallo

Don Gallo, formerly Don Goyo, is Park City’s newest Mexican restaurant. It is located on Main Street, where Crystal Park Cantina used to be. In my opinion, it’s a huge improvement! The chef at Don Goyo is from Mexico City, and I was able to sample quite a few options at a special event before they opened. They have ceviche, mole, and the Sopes Pipián with green mole sauce. Nearly every dish is made fresh daily in-house. They also have breakfast!

Dos Olas

Another upscale Mexican restaurant in Park City is Dos Olas, located at the Pendry Hotel in Canyons Village. This is one of the newest luxury hotels in Park City, and you can’t beat the location. They serve traditional Mexican food with a California twist. The dessert menu is legit, with flan, churro ice cream sandwiches, tres leches, and paletas.

El Chubasco

El Chubasco ranks pretty high up as a local’s favorite Mexican food in Park City. It’s a counter-service restaurant with a pretty large salsa bar, which is “world famous” according to their website. This is a great spot for takeout as parking is easy for getting in and out. Plus, they have sopes!

Sergio’s

When I asked my hairdresser for her favorite Mexican restaurant in Park City, she said Sergio’s. I have to agree that they have pretty good Mexican food. The beans, rice, and entree are all good, and they have a salsa bar with at least eight different dips and salsas. The Chipotle sauce was super good. Not to mention, my bill was less than $20 which is downright cheap for Park City dining!

Tarahumara

When I ask locals what is their favorite Park City Mexican food, Tarahumara is usually the first answer. I’ve had their food via Uber Eats, and it was really tasty! So, I just need to sample the service and ambiance of the restaurant. It’s located in the same building as Wasatch Bagel, which is known for one of the best burgers in Park City.

Tekila Mexican Grill

For Park City Main Street restaurants, Tekila Mexican Grill is a staple. They serve up excellent margaritas (or so I’m told from those who drink tequila!) and solid Mexican food. I first visited on a food tour and had the chile verde enchilada.

Other Park City Mexican Food

Yes, we also have Taco Bell, Cafe Rio, and Del Taco. While the Baja fish taco at Del Taco is pretty good, Chipotle is still my favorite fast Mexican food and we just got a Chipotle in Park City…so exciting, haha!

  • Chimayo is one of Park City’s most popular restaurants. It’s not really Mexican, but many people think it is. It is actually Southwestern, which is quite different, but it’s still very good!
  • Heber City and Midway both have a ton of Mexican restaurants, too! Lupitas in Midway is pretty good and I still have a lot of spots to try.
  • Salt Lake City is another option for Mexican cuisine in Utah; the Red Iguana is the most popular and well worth the drive!
  • Loco Lizard is another Park City Mexican food spot that is often busy, but I found the food to be kind of bland. The service was good, so I’ll have to go back and try something other than the birria tacos.
  • I recently had some great breakfast tacos at the Bridge Cafe on Main Street. They were super good, and I love this spot at the base of the Town Lift.

If you are visiting Park City but want to skip the crowds on Main Street, check out these restaurants in Kimball Junction.
