Where to Stay in Park City Utah (2026)

I have lived and worked in hotels in Park City since 2020, and through my writing projects, have had the opportunity to stay in and tour many of these Park City hotels. Choosing the best Park City lodging will depend largely on what you plan to do, whether you will have a car, and how much you want to spend. Fortunately, there’s a fantastic (free) bus system to get around, so you shouldn’t have to deal with parking and traffic. If you visit Park City in the winter, there’s no real reason to have a car. If you visit Park City in the summer, having a car is great for mountain biking in nearby canyons or exploring some of the many scenic drives in Utah.

Choose Your Base: Deer Valley, Park City, or Canyons Village

If you’re planning a ski or snowboard trip to Park City, choose your mountain resort before choosing your lodging. Due to the Ikon and Epic pass structures, few visitors ski both Deer Valley and Park City as they are on entirely different mountains. So, it makes sense to choose lodging close to where you’ll be skiing every day. However, it’s fairly easy to travel between the resorts, and many hotels offer a shuttle to the slopes if they are not ski-in ski-out lodging.

Silver Lake Village at Deer Valley Resort
  • Deer Valley is the most exclusive (and expensive) of Park City’s ski resorts. Deer Valley Resort is one of only three major ski resorts in the US that do not allow snowboarding. As part of Alterra, you can use your IKON pass here. It’s also one of the best resorts for beginner skiers. If you want a true luxury vacation, there are many options in Deer Valley.
  • Park City Mountain Resort – the original Park City ski hill, this one offers the most diverse terrain for skiers and snowboarders, and you can access it directly from Main Street using the town lift. Accommodations near PCMR are more dated and mid-priced.
  • Canyons Village at Park City Mountain – Canyons is part of Park City Mountain, and they are both owned by Vail Resorts. You can ski them both on the Epic pass, and they are connected by a gondola. Canyons feels like a true ski village, with hotels, restaurants, shops, and activities.

Ski-In / Ski-Out Lodging in Park City

After you choose your Park City ski resort, your next decision is what kind of Park City vacation rentals are best for you and your family. Do you want ski-in/ski-out access, or do you want to be right in the center of town, or somewhere in the middle? Do you want upgraded amenities like a fitness center or a heated outdoor pool? Ski-in/ski-out lodging in Park City is the ultimate convenience as you can roll out of bed in the morning, head to the ski valet or on-site sports equipment rental, and be on the ski slopes in no time! You’ll pay for the convenience, of course. Many of these properties can charge as much as $2,000 per night in peak season. Luckily, the best places to stay in Park City also offer a shuttle into town, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on the action on Main Street every night.

  • Deer Valley Ski-in/Ski-Out Properties
    • St. Regis Deer Valley – a luxury Marriott property located adjacent to Deer Valley’s Snow Park Lodge.
    • Montage Deer Valley – the highest of all Deer Valley lodges, this luxury property is located at Empire Pass
    • Stein Eriksen Lodge – another luxury property with a “lodge-y” feel located at the heart of Silver Lake Village. Their skier’s brunch is the best brunch in Park City!
    • Goldener Hirsch, an Auberge Resort, gives Austrian ski lodge vibes in Silver Lake Village.
    • Chateaux Deer Valley is not quite ski-in, ski-out, but it’s a quick 100-yard walk to the Sterling Express lift.
    • As Deer Valley’s East Village begins to take shape, there will be several luxury hotels opening in the next 3 years. Grand Hyatt Deer Valley opened in November 2024. Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria have been confirmed as the next hotel openings.
  • Park City Mountain Village
    • Marriott’s MountainSide – the best location in Park City Mountain Village, with traditional rooms and multi-room villas.
    • Lodge at the Mountain Village – fun location next to the Park City Mountain skating rink with fully-equipped condos that are perfect for family travel!

How to spend Christmas in Park City Utah!

Park City Old Town Hotels

If you like to be at the heart of downtown Park City, then you should definitely stay in Old Town, near Main Street, where the best bars and restaurants are located. Use the free bus (or the town lift!) to get to the slopes in the morning, with the luxury of walking home at the end of the night. Many older buildings have been restored into really cool Park City boutique hotels.

Prospector Junction Hotels

I would consider this the “outskirts” of Park City, but it is also kind of its own village or at least trying to be. It’s in Park City proper, less than 10 minutes from Deer Valley and Park City Mountain, and has many mid-range hotels for skiers who don’t want to spend top-dollar to be within walking distance of town. Fortunately, most Prospector hotels near Park City have a shuttle to town, and there’s always the free transit system. Prospector is also home to one of my favorite Park City restaurants, Freshies Lobster Co.

  • Sheraton Park City – I’ve stayed here several times. It’s a nice location and a good Marriott option if you don’t have enough points to stay at SummitWatch! And it’s dog-friendly 🙂
  • Prospector Condos – an affordable option if you want a full condo with kitchen facilities
  • Park City Peaks – Modern hotel with easy access to all ski resorts.

Kimball Junction Hotels

If you are looking for more budget-friendly places to stay in the greater Park City area, then check out Kimball Junction. It’s located right on I-80, so it has easier access to Salt Lake City and is still less than 30 minutes from Deer Valley, the farthest of the ski resorts. For locals, Kimball Junction is where all of the chains are: Wal-Mart, Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc. But there are also some fun boutique shops and great restaurants in Kimball Junction, both in Redstone Center and Newpark Center. It’s also where the Utah Olympic Park is located; one of the best Park City attractions!

  • AC Hotel Park City – Park City’s newest Marriott property; European design and budget-friendly. Five-minute walk to the transit center.
  • NewPark Resort – I’ve stayed here a couple of times for job interviews before I moved out here. It’s a really nice lodge-y hotel with an indoor/outdoor swimming pool. Suites come with a hot tub on the balcony!
  • Holiday Inn Express Park City – the ultimate mid-range free-breakfast chain hotel.
  • Hyatt Place Park City – one of Park City’s newest chain hotels is a budget-friendly location between Kimball Junction and the Canyons. There’s a bus stop right outside that will take you to the Canyons.

Outlying Areas of Park City

The area south of Park City is growing rapidly, and more Wasatch Mountain lodging options keep popping up!

  • Heber City is a bedroom community to Park City; it’s where many of Park City’s workforce reside. There are a few chain hotels in Heber City, and lots of home rentals. It’s growing at a crazy pace, and there will be more hotels soon.
  • Midway is adjacent to Heber City and is a quaint village settled by Swiss immigrants. It’s quite charming, but also growing quickly with development on the horizon. Currently, there are a few hotels in Midway, Utah, worth looking into. Especially if your trip is not about skiing.
    • Homestead Resort just underwent a major renovation and will soon join the Marriott portfolio as an Autograph Collection property. The resort also has a golf course and a famous Utah Hot Springs location.
    • Zermatt Resort is a nod to the Swiss heritage of the town; it has a lot of family-friendly activities on-site, making it a great spot for your family trip.
  • If you really want a luxury escape from everything, the Lodge at Blue Sky is incredible. The Auberge property is situated in Wanship, approximately 30 minutes from Park City’s Main Street. (They have a shuttle) They offer a variety of activities each day, incredible food, and expansive views. Many room options feel like a private home, including the signature suites and the Creek Houses.

Park City Vacation Rentals

Besides all of these great Park City hotels I’ve listed, there are also dozens of Park City vacation rentals. Many people own vacation homes here that they rent out throughout the year. The longer you stay, the better deal you can find, but expect to pay top dollar for Park City lodging during the Sundance Film Festival and ski holiday weekends like MLK and Presidents’ Day. Make sure you verify the location and access; some properties (like the one I rented my first year in town) are only accessible through a TON of stairs.
